MMK wins IT Leader prize
Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) won the IT Leader Prize in the course of the 9th annual national competition. The awarding ceremony took place in Moscow, with over five hundred representatives of companies that design and introduce innovational IT solutions in their business practice attending the event.
MMK is definitely the Russian ferrous metallurgy’s top IT products launcher. This primarily refers to the Oracle E-Business Suite-based unified corporate information system that the company is now using. The system provides data on the company’s financial and economic performance and keeps track of the entire process flow as well as of stoppages and repairs. For one, the company’s central dispatching division designed and implemented its own production monitoring system that uses a mnemonic scheme of the enterprise’s process flow to display the condition and the performance of all the units, mills, and large sections of shops in real-time mode. Thanks to the unified integrated corporate information system, MMK’s daily production operations are transmitted daily and get timely IT support. The data from every new unit or mill are fed into the corporate information system from the very point of launching,’ MMK PR Department reports.
MMK is also improving on its Manager’s APM, the information and analysis system, using the most advanced tools available to date. Some three hundred managers get the latest company news updates and analytical reports every morning. The system is also fed some data on MMK Group’s performance on a daily basis. The information covers updates on such companies as Ogneupor, Belon, Intercos-IV, and others. What is more, the enterprise keeps perfecting its internal and external electronic document control as well as its shop floor information systems and the network communication sets,’ the company says.
The national IT Leader Prize was set up in 2002. The organization committee comprises the Association of Russian Managers, KROK Company, and such magazines as Itogi, Intelligent Enterprise, and CIO: Chief Information Officer.
