Chelyabinsk Tube Rolling Plant’s Shop Undergoes DNV Certification

Chelyabinsk Tube Rolling Plant’s Vysota 239 department has been certified in accordance with the international standard DNV recently.

The certification procedures were first started by Chelyabinsk Tube Rolling Plant in the fall of 2010 and were completed in less than a year. In fact, no other Russian company has managed to get the DNV certificate over such a short period before. The representatives of Det Norske Veritas certified the pipe production at Vysota 239, that is, the production of pipes with the diameter of 1,020 mm and wall thickness of 21.3 mm (strength 485 FD).

The certificate which proves that the technical conditions, the production, the quality, and the reliability of the goods meet the DNV standards applies to a certain kind of produce. For example, for large diameter pipes, the internal diameter incongruence could come to +/- 15%, the wall thickness incongruence could come to +/- 10%. Once Chelyabinsk Tube Rolling Plant had one kind of its LDPs certified, it received the certificate for a whole range of size and type varieties,’ says Vysota 239 Project Management Director Valentin Tazetdinov.

The DNV certificate will considerably expand the plant’s chances to take part in the projects of the fuel end energy sector involving the construction of the most complex pipelines going through the permafrost areas, through earthquake-prone zones, and underwater, on the ocean beds.
