Court Looks into Claim against Aeroflot

On July 4, 2011, the court put off the hearing of the claim laid by a number of Yekaterinburg dwellers against Aeroflot till July 14, 2012, one of the plaintiffs Dmitri Yelkin reports. The citizens insist that the airline compensate them for a cancelled flight.

The havoc at Moscow’s airports shortly before New Year had to do with anomalous weather conditions in the area. The airports were forced to delay and call off flights, and passengers were stranded on the airport premises for days, waiting for their flights to take off. Aeroflot cancelled over two hundred flights over those few days.

Passengers from Yekaterinburg who had been affected by the problems produced a joint claim, where they require that the air carrier give them a refund for the tickets from Yekaterinburg to Antalya and back (a total of 259,157 RUR) and compensate them for the losses incurred (147,978 RUR) and for the moral damage (30,000 RUR for each adult, 60,000 RUR for each child, and 140,000 RUR for a disabled passenger).
