An interregional session of Russia’s industry ministers will be held in Yekaterinburg during the international industrial innovations exhibition INNOPROM 2011 on July 14-15, 2011. The idea was proposed by Sverdlovsk Region Vice Premier and Minister for Industry & Science Alexander Petrov and Tatarstan Minister for Industry & Trade Ravil Zaripov, Governor of Sverdlovsk Region’s press service reports.

The ministers intend to consider their regions’ industrial cooperation potential and to visit the region’s flagship enterprises in Yekaterinburg, Pervouralsk, and Nizhniy Tagil.


Russia’s Deputy Industry & Trade Minister Georgy Kalamanov and industry ministers of Chelyabinsk, Kurgan, Kirov, Saratov, and Ulyanovsk Regions have already accepted the invitations to the session. Sverdlovsk Region’s Industry Ministry also expects officials from fourteen more Russian regions to confirm their participation in the event.

‘The idea of holding such a meeting came up due to the wish both Ravil Khammatovitch Zaripov and I had of promoting a constructive discussion among Russia’s many regions. Sverdlovsk Region and Tatarstan have a long history of mutually beneficial partnership, and I believe this positive experience needs to be transferred to other parts of Russia which will also become involved in communication and collaboration,’ Alexander Petrov explains.
