Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) proved its readiness to produce highly durable cold-resistant rolled products for the Russian pipeline manufacturers.

Following the hydraulic and field pneumatic testing of some pilot batches of pipes in Chelyabinsk and Kopeisk, experts from Gazrpom, Gazprom VNIIGAZ, and other enterprises representing the certification committee declared that the pipes made by MMK of rolled sheets with strength class K65 meet the technical requirements set for the main pipeline Bovanenko-Ukhta. This means that MMK is currently the exclusive supplier of К65(Х80) rolled sheets (thickness 23mm) for Chelyabinsk Tube Rolling Plant that manufactures pipes for the main pipeline Bovanenko-Ukhta.

Thanks to the technologies that have no counterparts in Russia and that have been designed by MMK experts in cooperation with I.P. Bardin Central Scientific Research Institute of Ferrous Metals CNIICHERMET), Prometey Central Scientific Research Institute, and Magnitogorsk State Technical University, MMK’s Mill 5000 can produce pipe billets with extra grade of strength that are needed for OCTG production.

We can manage a wide range of plate mill products due to the unique characteristics of the new mill, namely, the world’s most powerful rolling mill with rolling power of up to 12,000 tons and the innovational set of methods for cooling the rolled products on the cooling table,’ the enterprise reports.
