Yekaterinburg MEGA to Take Three Years to Rebuild

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, October 6, 2011. The reconstruction of Yekaterinburg-based MEGA shopping mall will last for three years, at least, MEGA-Yekaterinburg CEO Lilia Nenasheva announced at a press conference in Yekaterinburg today.

‘The initial reconstruction stages will remain unheeded by the customers. We’ll start with the infrastructure and technical systems upgrades and then we’ll move on to the commercial components,’ she explained.

‘When the renovations are complete, the mall will look different both on the inside and on the outside. Its colors and interior will be changed. For one, at the moment one can see metal frames and wood panels, and in the future this will be replaced by something different. The shopping mall will be white on the inside,’ Ms Nenasheva said.

‘We are considering expanding the set of buildings we have, since we would like to have an entertainment area. For the time being, all of our space is taken up by shops, but the premises have a potential for expanding in terms of width. However, no particular decisions have been taken yet, and no agreements have been signed,’ the manager added.

Nevertheless, changes among the current tenants will become apparent as soon as next year.

‘Many of our agreements with the mall’s tenants will expire in 2012. As a result, we’ll come to have a somewhat different pool of tenants. Some of the shops will stay where they are, some of them will be replaced by the new ones,’ she noted.
