Industry & Science Minister: Lifan, Trolliga might invest in AMUR

Deputy Head of Sverdlovsk Region Government and Minister for Industry & Science Alexander Petrov spoke about the potential investors of AMUR car factory during his business visit to Novouralsk.

Among the criteria that matter to the government as far as the potential investors are concerned is their willingness to set up a full automobile production cycle on the premises of Novouralsk plant, to launch a separate facility for the manufacturing of car parts, and to create a scientific and technological center for advanced car-making technologies.

‘The priority will be given to those car manufacturers that will take it upon themselves to produce modern car-makes,’ the Minister said.

Now AMUR car factory’s Board of Directors decided to keep the plant within bankruptcy proceedings.

‘This means that the socioeconomic situation at the plant will remain stable and predictable for the next six months. Sverdlovsk Region’s Industry & Science Ministry is now negotiating with two potential investors, the Slovenian concern Trolliga and the Chinese manufacturer Lifan. Our Slovenian partners will produce a detailed business plan for the passenger coach production in January, whereas the Chinese party have already suggested investing 100m RUR in the welding facilities upgrades. However, according to our estimates, this sum is not enough, so we are negotiating for an increase,’ Petrov said.
