MMK Keeps Putting up Cold-Roll Facility
Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) keeps putting up the second extension to its cold-roll facility.
The facility with the capacity of 2m tons of goods a year is meant for the production of high quality cold-rolled and galvanized rolled products for the automobile industry as well as for household appliances manufacturers and for the building industry.
According to MMK PR Department, over 1,400 people are employed at the construction site every day. The assembling of the technological equipment is 70% complete by now. The equipment relating to the continuous annealing aggregate is being prepared for a dry run and cold tests.
The units belonging to the second extension of the mill are expected to be launched on Metallurgist’s Day in July 2012.
The general contractors of the project are ZAO Stroitelny Komplex, OOO Maglin, OAO Prokatmontazh, OAO PO Montazhnik, ZAO Mechanoremontny Komplex, and ZAO Energotechprom. The name of the general designer is OAO Magnitogorsk Gipromez.
