Regional smithy audited by Association of American Railroads for meeting quality specification requirements
Uralskaya Kusnitsa JSC, a smithy in Chelyabinsk Region, has been audited by AAR for meeting ААR М -1003 quality specification requirements, which is an indispensable proviso for companies willing to supply forged pieces of engine crew wrist pins onto the North American market.
As the company’s spokesperson said to UrBC representative, on his first visit to the smithy (and Russia, coincidentally), AAR leading auditor Thomas Dedeck checked out the Technical Management, Technical Supervision Department, the corporate laboratory, the forge-and-press workshop and the disc cutting shop. He examined the quality of production scheduling as well as that of production, PC and packaging. Besides, the AAR representative tested the gaging equipment and test facilities.
The auditing procedure resulted in finding the quality specifications satisfactory, so AAR decided to prolong its engine crew wrist pin production certificate given to the smithy for another year.
The firm is to go through the next audit in 2008.
