N.A. Semikhatov Scientific Production Association of Yekaterinburg (aka Automatica) is to host an instrument-making technological park meant for producing particularly sophisticated circuit boards. This has been made possible owing to the decision of Deputy Head of Sverdlovsk Region Government Vladimir Molchanov, directors of regional instrument-making enterprises, and representatives of the defense industry.

According to the spokesperson for Sverdlovsk Region Governor, a special committee of executives from the Ministry of Industry, Power Engineering and Science, defense enterprises, and scientists has been set up to make the project a reality. The regional production associations such as Octyabr and UOMZ are already producing the boards independently but there appears to be a growing need for a greater concentration of production, financial resources and brain power if one wants to come up with competitive high-tech products.

‘These concerns had to be answered by the creation of a technological park where the Russian research results in the fields of electronics could be applied to produce the experimental samples and test them,’ the spokesperson reports.

N.A. Semikhatov Scientific Production Association of Yekaterinburg is to offer about 8,000 square meters to the new facility.
