‘The court officers of Yekaterinburg began enforcing the payment by Kalina JSC of the reputation damage and money loss compensation to Nefis Cosmetics JSC imposed on the former for counterfeiting the washing powder of the latter,’ the company’s spokesperson said to UrBC representative.

‘Kalina has to pay Nefis Cosmetics 10.5 million RUR after the corresponding verdict was returned by the Court of Appeals on January 31, 2006. We gave it a full month to do it voluntarily, and on March 1 we had to send the act of execution to Sverdlovsk Region law-enforcement agencies. On Marc h13, the officer for Oktyabrskiy District of Yekaterinburg sequestrated Kalina’s assets and made any transactions using the company’s bank account illegal. Yet this was just too late as Kalina executives had closed its account three days before,’ said the spokesperson for Nefis Cosmetics Alexei Brusnitsin.

On March 15, the enforcement was stopped after Kalina submitted a petition to Povolzhie Federal Court of Arbitration.

‘It should be resumed as soon as the Court examines the case, and, anyway, the delay is a good chance to find out more about the company’s assets,’ said Mr Brusnitsin.

‘We regret having to hunt for their money but we’re positive that justice will be done and we get the whole sum we’ve been entitled to,’ said Legal Department Director Yulia Blaginikh.
