Ural Turbine Works puts into operation high-speed blade processing unit

Ural Turbine Works (part of Renova Group) is going to put into operation its high-speed blade processing unit and hold the opening ceremony on October 2, 2006.

‘The need for equipment upgrading in the field of power engineering industry will be increasing dramatically in a few years’ time; this new unit will allow us to raise our output,’ says Deputy Head of Sverdlovsk Region Government Vladimir Molchanov.

Introducing blade production is the key component of the plant’s five-year strategic development plan. The unit will produce 12,000 turbine blades a year and thus can fully meet the corporate needs as well as impressively expand the range of options in terms of the rather costly servicing of plant-manufactured turbines in Russia and abroad.

Ural Turbine Works decided on special machines produced by Lichty, Shaublin, and Koher of Switzerland as the basis of the equipment, since these appliances have proved to be capable of high-level processing and enjoy good reputation worldwide.

The opening ceremony will be attended by the Speaker of Sverdlovsk Region House of Representatives Yuriy Osintsev, First Deputy Minister for Industry, Power Engineering and Science Yuriy Zibarev, and General Director of Ural Turbine Works Vitaliy Nedelskiy, reports the company’s spokesperson.
