Magnesite Group become Russia’s first producer of caustic magnesite
Magnesite Group has recently started producing defined-parameters caustic magnesite for special purposes at Magnesite Industrial Complex based in Chelyabinsk Region.
This made the company Russia’s first and only producer of caustic magnesite also made in China, Greece, and Spain. The total amount of the Group’s investments in R&D, renovation and upgrading of equipment, and introduction of the new technology amounted to 245m RUR. The throughput of the new facility is expected to come to 90,000 tons per annum.
This kind of magnesite is mainly used by large European enterprises involved in chemical, building, and agricultural industries. As for Russia, the only thing that enjoys great demand here is the magnesite caustic powder (meant for catching dust) used in pulp-and-paper industry, ore mining, oil and gas and chemical industries, power engineering, machine building, and non-ferrous metallurgy.
The Complex has already produced a few experimental batches of caustic magnesite that have successfully undergone all the technical testing in Technological Research Center. This testing proved the outstanding quality and nice technological parameters of the product; in addition, these parameters could be modified to fit the consumers’ needs.
According to the experts of Magnesite Group, the demand for the product, as far as European countries are concerned, is ever-increasing and currently comes to 500,000 tons a year. The company’s experts’ estimates of home consumption of caustic magnesite amount to 100,000 tons annually for the next one or two years.
The solemn launching ceremony of No. 7 rotary kiln installed at the magnesite powder shop was attended by the top management and leading experts of Magnesite Group and Magnesite Industrial Complex. The management congratulated the shop workers on the symbolic event and thanked them for their contribution to this high technology development, enhancing the produce quality and assortment as well as fulfilling the investments projects of the company.
‘This is another significant step the company has made to build up its share of home and international markets,’ said GD of Magnesite Group Sergey Odegov.
The newly launched rotary kiln with the independent kiln charge will make it possible to load and bake the product without using the other furnaces. This kiln will ensure the good amounts of excellent quality caustic magnesite. Besides, a new production site for briquetting and further baking of magnesite is being constructed at No. 2 magnesite powder shop. The whole project will cost, approximately, over 600 million RUR, reports the spokesperson for Magnesite Group.
