$3.7bn worth of goods imported in Ural Customs Administration zone in January-October 2006

According to the Ural Customs Administration, $3.7bn worth of goods was imported in the region in January-October 2006, with slightly over 50% ($1.9bn) coming from abroad and 49.5% ($1.8bn) coming from the CIS, which exceeds the figures for January-October 2005 by 15.1%. More goods were imported both from abroad (there was an increase of 17.1%) and from the CIS (an increase of 13.1%). This increase in the amount of goods actually made up for the reduction of the contract prices; the physical volume of the goods imported has come to 30.6m tons in the ten months of 2006, with goods from abroad comprising a little more than 2% (637,200 tons) and goods from the CIS adding up to 98% (29.9m tons).
