Eldorado retail chain resumes business with Panasonic
Panasonic has been negotiating with the retail chains selling consumer electronics and home appliances, reports RBC daily. Last week, Eldorado retail chain resumed buying Panasonic goods after the Russian representation of the Japanese company paid the store a $50,000 compensation for the price difference of plasma screens in MediaMarkt and Eldorado.
The other retailers appear to be reluctant to buy Panasonic produce in the nearest future, yet they do say their negotiations are in full progress.
On December 6, 2006, the top executives of Russia’s leading retail chains (EuroSet, Svyaznoy, Eldorado, M.Video, TechnoSila, and Mir) came up with a statement saying they were going to stop buying supplies of and selling goods produced by the company. The writing of this statement was caused by the illegal practices employed by Panasonic in Russia. Panasonic repudiated all these charges; the market experts described the retailers’ decision as a protest action against the arrival of MediaMarkt that offered Panasonic goods at a better price.
