We sell seven kinds of Polish apples that are all certified for safety, claims Kupets supermarket chain

‘Our supermarkets offer round about seven kinds of apples imported from Poland (Aport, Alva, Champion, Gloucester, and some others); we always ask for an obligatory safety certificate when buying them,’ the merchandiser of Kupets supermarket chain Marina Gints said to UrBC.

Rosselkhoznadzor (the state agricultural watchdog) has recently prevented some Poland-grown fruits and vegetables from being imported to Russia as they were reported to have a lot of pesticides in them. The shipment to Saint Petersburg, consisting of 16.5 tons of cabbage and 19.3 tons of apples, had extremely high cadmium and chlorpyrifos content, respectively. Another Moscow-bound shipment (113.5 tons of apples) contained traces of dimethoate.
