The unemployment rate is still below the Russian average; so are arrears of wages, mortality rate, and the spread of the so-called social diseases.

The industrial production growth in Ural Federal District in two months of 2007 went up 5.9% compared to January-February 2006, largely due to faster development of Tyumen and Chelyabinsk Regions.
