United Company RUSAL registered in Cyprus

United Company RUSAL was registered in Cyprus, says Chairman of the Board Viktor Vekselberg. Most assets will still be classed as Russian, he explains; the registration in Cyprus is needed, however, to enter the global market.

The new company unites a number of aluminum plants (Bratsk, Krasnoyarsk, Novokuznetsk, Sayanogorsk, Khakas Aluminum Smelters, Achinsk Alumina Plant, Nikolaev and Boksitogorsk Alumina Refineries, Friguia Alumina Plant (Guinea), Compagnie des Bauxites de Kindia (Guinea), Bauxite Company of Guyana, a stake in the Queensland Alumina Refinery (Australia), as well as ARMENAL, SAYANAL and a cathode plant in China.

As for SUAL Group, another member of United Company, it contributed Irkutsk, Ural, Kandalaksha, Bogoslovsky, Nadvoitsky, Volgograd and Volkhov Aluminum Smelters, Zaporozhye Aluminum, Pikalevo Alumina Refinery, SUBR, Ural Foil, as well as Irkutsk Silicon, Ural Silicon SUAL and SUAL Powder Metallurgy.

Glencore International AG’s share comprises Ireland-based Aughinish, Jamaica-based Alpart, Italian Eurallumina, and Swedish Kubikenborg Aluminum Smelter.

RUSAL Chairman Oleg Deripaska owns 66% of United Company RUSAL, SUAL stockowners possess 22%, Glencore shareholders own 12%.
