Case of Vista Travel Agency still considered by antimonopoly authorities

'The case of Vista Travel Agency related to the company’s alleged violation of the federal advertising law is still being considered by the regional antimonopoly authorities; experts are currently busy collecting additional evidence and data,’ Lyudmila Smirnyagina of Federal Antimonopoly Service Advertising Law Surveillance Department said to UrBC.

‘The Federal Antimonopoly Service in Sverdlovsk Region asked some experts from Ural State University to examine the travel agent’s ads. What’s more, we intend to assess the data obtained through an opinion poll conducted among radio audiences. The hearing of the case will probably be resumed after we’ve processed all the files,’ Ms Smirnyagina said.

The thing is, Vista’s ads appear to be violating Article 5 of the federal Advertising Law as they call for violence, which an advertisement is not supposed to do. Vista’s billboards bear inscriptions like ‘Bury your mother-in-law in the sand for $399,’ ‘Throw your mom out in the sea for $399,’and ‘I’ll strip my husband of his clothes for $399.’
