Rostechnadzor reveals violations at Nizhneserginskiy Hardware Plant and VSMPO AVISMA Corporation
The regional division of Rostechnadzor (the state environmental, technological, and nuclear safety watchdog) inspected a number of hydraulic facilities at Malyshevskoye Rudoupravleniye, Nizhneserginskiy Hardware Plant, and VSMPO AVISMA Corporation on August 6-17, 2007. These inspections revealed 25 safety violations, Rostechnadzor’s local press officer reports. One problem is the absence of systematic control over the way the companies put away their effluents for safekeeping. The inspectors drew up two administrative offense reports, accusing certain authorities of failing to act responsibly. All the violation reports have been provided with action plans with strict deadlines.
Rostechnadzor also filed an administrative suit against Berezovskoye Rudoupravleniye Ltd for failing to send in their hydraulic safety declaration in time. In addition, the investigation of the causes of an accident at Nevyanskiy mine on August 7, 2007 was finally completed. An ad hoc investigative committee reports there was not enough mining and surveying control over the sediment reservoirs during the summer rainfall runoffs. An administrative lawsuit was filed against the company.
