Sverdlovsk Region’s export and import shares in foreign trade turnover come to 78.4% and 21.6% in August 2007

The regional statisticians came up with some data on Sverdlovsk Region’s socio-economic development in January-September 2007. The region’s foreign trade turnover came to $7.4bn in January-August 2007 (excluding the exported and imported goods that are officially not liable to declaration). This is 27.4% more than a year earlier; the share of exported goods amounted to $5.8bn (which is 24.6% more than in January-August 2006) and the share of imported goods reached $1.6bn (which is 38.5% more than in January-August 2006). The export surplus amounted to $4.2bn against $3.5bn a year earlier.

In terms of percentage, the share of all the goods exported in January-August 2007 came to 78.4%, that of all the goods imported came to 21.6% of the total foreign trade turnover volume.

The region exported $841.2m and imported $529.7m worth of goods to the members of the CIS in the eight months of 2007, which exceeds the figures for a year earlier by 29.4% and 14.7% respectively. As regards foreign trade with countries outside the CIS, the region exported $5bn and imported $1.1bn worth of goods in January-August 2007, which exceeds the figures for a year earlier by 23.8% and 54.2% respectively.
