Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works tops National Purchase Transparency Rating 2007

The awarding ceremony of National Purchase Transparency Rating 2007 took place in Moscow on December 11, 2007. This is the annual national rating that covers both the state and private largest purchasing agents and assesses them in terms of transparency and efficiency of their actions. The project is supported by a number of NGOs as well as the State Duma Anti-Corruption Committee and the Federal Antimonopoly Service.

The rating featured 328 organizations, ranked along the transparency levels, from Guaranteed to Low, and along categories (federal, regional, municipal, and corporate purchasing agents). MMK was declared one of the best corporate purchasing agents with the first-level transparency (Guaranteed). This was the second time the enterprise has been awarded with this position. The award was given to the company’s Commercial Director Viktor Kutischev.

According to MMK’s PR Department, the company is trying hard to make its corporate purchasing system as efficient as possible. They use a special corporate information system that makes the process very clear and controllable at any stage. In addition, the enterprise is gradually switching to buying through tenders, so it is constantly on the look-out for new suppliers who would take part in competing for the order. Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works has been organizing tenders since 2004 and reverse auctions since 2005.
