Koltsovo Airport fined for refusing Siberia Airlines

The Federal Antimonopoly Service found Koltsovo Airport of Yekaterinburg guilty of violating the federal legislation on the protection of competition (Article 10, part 1). As the airport agreed to eliminate the violation of its own accord, no report will be filed on the company, but it will still have to face administrative responsibility (based on Article 14.31 of the Administrative Offense Code).

The inquiry into the case began after Siberia Airlines complained about Koltsovo Airport’s avoiding an agreement related to rendering ground handling service to their aircraft.

Koltsovo Airport is the only operator on Yekaterinburg’s market, so its actions can thus be classed as a violation of the federal legislation on the protection of competition (Article 10, part 1), since they limit the competition on Moscow-Yekaterinburg-Moscow route and infringe upon Siberia Airline’s interests.

As the airport agreed to cooperate with the airline, the Federal Antimonopoly Service only declared it guilty and started a suit, but no orders were issued.
