Court looks into Rusgrad vs. Central Stadium

Sverdlovsk Region Arbitration Court started considering the claim laid by Rusgrad Construction Company against Central Stadium on July 9, 2009. The plaintiff insists on the defendant paying over 23.72 million RUR worth of debts.

Central Stadium is one of Sinara Group’s assets; the latter has an agreement with Yekaterinburg municipal council regarding the two parties’ socio-economic cooperation.

The stadium was closed for reconstruction in 2004, with the proposed deadline for all the jobs set for the second quarter of 2009, in time for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Yekaterinburg. Then, the stadium and the adjoining sports center were expected to have started operating by 2010.

It turned out in March 2009, however, that the reconstruction would take longer than expected, the developer informed the city council. It was suggested that the deadline should be extended to 2010 due to financing problems.

The project’s chief designer is the Finnish Hansa Stroi, with Neimar Engineering of Montenegro being the general contractor and Yekaterinburg-based Rusgrad being the customer. According to the earlier estimates, the project’s cost comes to 2.2 billion RUR.
