Ural-Avstro-Invest might face trial
Sverdlovsk Region’s division of the Federal Antimonopoly Service is to meet on September 30, 2009 in order to look into the case of Euro-Asian Management Company, Intensivnik’s Premier Hotel and City Hotel, Yekaterinburg Tsentralniy Hotel, Grand Avenue Hotel, and Iset Hotel.
These hotels are suspected of violating article 11 (part 1, paragraph 1) of the Federal Competition Protection Act through colluding on their pricing policies on June 1-30, 2009. This time period covered the days of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRIC summits in Yekaterinburg. The companies’ alleged colluding is believed to have resulted in skyrocketing hotel room prices.
It has recently been reported that Ural-Avstro-Invest and Nordus Hotel have also been involved in the lawsuit.
