Vinnichenko calls for control over Uralvagonzavod

Plenipotentiary Representative of Russian Federation President in Ural Federal District Nikolai Vinnichenko organized a meeting dedicated to the development prospects of Uralvagonzavod, one of Russia’s leading vehicle giants.

‘The Russian Federation Government took a whole set of recession-fighting measures targeted at bringing more stability to the enterprise; nevertheless, the situation is still difficult. The company’s main problem is their shrinking order portfolio, since their key customers, Russian Railways and First Freight Company, can’t afford to buy as much as they used to. Naturally, this has to do with the fact that they have been handling lees cargo and transporting fewer passengers this year as compared to the year 2008,’ Vinnichenko said.

‘Well, in exchange for the supportive measures, the government would like the plant’s management to deliver the goods, that is, to upgrade the production facilities, to make the process more effective, and to produce good quality goods that enjoy demand,’ he added.
