GM dealers to keep up Opel sales

‘Our sales of Opel cars are as smooth as ever, even though General Motors did decide not to sell its daughter enterprise after all. In fact, GM has been struggling with some problems of its own; one way or another, the company has got only one distributor delivering its cars to Russia. This distributor will certainly keep buying General Motors’ produce, so any customer can always place an order for the model he or she likes. All this talk of the government planning to impose sanctions on GM is just rubbish. Opel has been present on the Russian market since the nineties; it is a very strong brand that gets only positive feedback,’ Glazurit car center’s sales expert Pavel Lapin says.

GM’s Board of Directors recently thought it best not to sell Opel, its daughter enterprise, to Magna-Sberbank Consortium. Dmitriy Peskov, the spokesperson for Head of Russian Federation Government, announced that the government was surprised at this decision and that the consortium was going to look very thoroughly into the legal aspects of the backing-out. GM President and CEO Fritz Henderson said, in his turn, that the company was hoping to keep developing its business in Russia.

‘Opel cars get sold and receive all the after-sales services. The warranty is totally reliable and valid. The price of the cars will definitely not be affected by General Motors’ current situation. The thing is, what is happening now is just a matter of bonds and securities that does not affect production or sales,’ notes Dmitriy Zaostrovnikh, Avtoban car center’s sales expert.
