InterContinental hotel to be put up in Yekaterinburg

Head of Sverdlovsk Region Government Anatoly Gredin met the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to Russia Halil Akinci, Sverdlovsk Region Government’s press center reports.

‘The Turkish companies keep taking part in the construction projects in the mid-Urals, contributing to a number of large-scale projects. For one, the Turkish Korai helped put up Metro Cash & Carry. The Turkish builders will also assist in the implementation of Olympus Mall project; this mall will be put up on the highway connecting Yekaterinburg to Koltsovo Airport. The twenty-hectare land allotment will house a 245-square-meter shopping center. The project has been estimated to cost about 8.5 billion RUR, which means the construction industry will get new orders and new jobs will be created,’ Gredin said.

The meeting resulted in the proposal to put up Yekaterinburg’s first four-star Crown Plaza Hotel of the world famous InterContinental chain.

‘Turkey and Sverdlovsk Region can rely on the direct flights performed by Ural Airlines and Turkish Airlines. Our tourist business is booming as well,’ Anatoly Gredin added.

The government official focused on the fact that, despite the recession, the turnover of Turkish goods in Sverdlovsk Region rose by 20% and exceeded $430m in January-September 2009.
