Volkswagen, Skoda, Peugeot, and Citroen join recycling scheme
The Russian Federation Industry &Trade Ministry recently added more car makes to the list of automobiles that will be sold with a 50,000 RUR discount under the government’s car recycling program. The list now comprises seventy-nine instead of sixty-six models. The Ministry’s order to this extent was carried in Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
Among the new car makes available under the program are Volkswagen Group Rus’s Volkswagen Passat, Skoda Yeti, and Skoda Superb as well as Peugeot 308 and Citroen C4 that will be manufactured by the new joint venture PSA Peugeot Citroen and Mitsubishi. There are also six makes by Ulyanovskiy car factory on the list, including the reasonably priced UAZ 469 and UAZ Cargo, and Sollers-produced off road vehicles like SsangYong Rexton and Kyron.
By April 26, 2010, the car dealers involved in the recycling scheme had written out 82,000 out of 200,000 recycling certificates the program’s budget had been set for, AVTOSTAT reports.
