Ural Airlines ups cabin luggage limits

On July 10, 2010, Ural Airlines is to introduce its new cabin luggage rules. Thanks to its upgraded aircraft and relying mostly on the European concern’s Airbus airplanes, which have more spacious luggage compartments, the company can now allow its passengers to take bigger and bulkier items with them to the cabin, the airline’s press officer says. What is more, the weight of the passengers’ cabin luggage is now not counted as part of the free luggage allowance.

Under the new regulations, business/comfort class passengers can also take two pieces of luggage to the cabin with them, as long as the two items put together weigh up to 12 kg and have the dimensions of 55х40х20 cm each, that is, up to 115 cm (45 inches) altogether. Economy class passengers can take one piece of luggage weighing up to 5kg to the cabin with them, as long as its dimensions fit within 55х40х20 cm, that is, up to 115 cm (45 inches) altogether.

The free luggage allowance for the economy class passengers comes to 20kg; that for the business class travelers comes to 30kg; that for the infants under two comes to 10kg plus perambulator. The dimensions of one piece of checked-in luggage must fit within 50х50х100 cm range. In addition, every passenger is allowed to take some personal items to the cabin with them, namely, a handbag or a briefcase, a document folder, an umbrella, a bouquet of flowers, some outer garments, a suit in a hold-all, some newspapers or magazines, a baby cradle, some baby food, a cell phone, a camera, a video camera, a laptop, a pair of crutches, a wheelchair or a stretcher (for motion impaired passengers).

These items don’t have to be weighed, checked in, or marked with any labels.
