Authorities to deal with metallurgical plant’s offenses
UrBC, Yekaterinburg, August 18, 2010. The Ural division of Rosprirodnadzor (the state environmental watchdog) completed its field check of OAO Verkh-Isetskiy Metallurgical Plant’s compliance with the environmental legislation.
Eight offenses were detected in the course of investigation, the spokesperson for Rosprirodnadzor reports, including one violation in the field of water bodies use and protection, five problems related to waste treatment, and two offenses in the field of free air protection.
In order for the violations to be eliminated, the plant was given corresponding orders with clear deadlines. Also, the legal entity had to face administrative prosecution, with charges based on Article 7.6 of the Russian Federation Administrative Offense Code. In addition, charges were laid against the plant’s chief engineer (Article 8.3 and 8.21 (part 3) of the Russian Federation Administrative Offense Code) and foreman of the metal goods department (Article 8.21 (part 2) of the Russian Federation Administrative Offense Code).
The dossier related to the illegal use of the River Iset has been placed with Sverdlovsk Region prosecution authorities.
