Ural Airlines, FlyDubai compete

‘We are not planning to change our schedule when a new player arrives on the market. The thing is, our business concepts are different: FlyDubai is a cut-price carrier, while we are an airline that offers its passengers a whole range of services, like wholesome fresh meals during a four and half hour flight, beverages and free strong drinks, seating options, up to twenty kg of toll-free luggage, cabin luggage options, and so on,’ Ural Airlines’ press secretary Elena Spiridovitch explained to UrBC.

FlyDubai, a carrier from the United Arab Emirates, announced today that Yekaterinburg was to become one of its many destinations. The flights from the UAE will be first operated on Saturday, October 16, 2010. A single Yekaterinburg-Dubai ticket is expected to cost about 12,290 RUR, the return one will come at the price of 9,220 RUR.

‘The low-cost companies’ policy is to make their customers pay for each and every option, and people will definitely have to do it: one cannot go on vacation without any luggage and come back home without doing any shopping. Likewise, one has to get something to eat during a half-day flight. So the price difference gets literally ‘eaten up’, however small these expenses may look. After all, the difference in the cost of the tickets is not so great at the moment,’ the press secretary said.
