Representation to watch over Uralsvyazinform’s reorganization

The Plenipotentiary Representation of Russian Federation President in Ural Federal District is going to watch over the reorganization of OAO Uralsvyazinform, a telecommunications provider, Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative of Russian Federation President in Ural Federal District Sergey Smetanyuk announced at a meeting with Uralsvyazinform’s General Director Sergey Lukash.

The meeting was dedicated to the latest changes in the company’s organization and personnel policy.

In fact, Uralsvyazinform intends to lay off 1,740 employees at the end of 2010 and during the first half of 2011. The layoffs will mainly touch upon the managers, who will make up over 60% of all the people made redundant by the company. Then, some engineers, technicians, and mechanics will also have to resign. All in all, some 18,000 people will still be employed by the company after all the redundancies take place.

‘Our company will meet all its social obligations as well as the labor law requirements; our workers will get all the severance deals provided for by the Labor Code and our collective agreement,’ Lukash said.

Sergey Smetanyuk, in his turn, pointed out that the Representation intended to keep supervising the reorganization of Uralsvyazinform in the future.
