Asmoto: Chrysler sales drop during recession

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, December 8, 2010. ‘Our sales of Chrysler automobiles plummeted when the recession began. This is why, in order to avoid financial risks, our company started working with individual orders rather than stocking. Depending on the logistics, one’s car will arrive in something between two weeks and three months,’ the Sales Department of Asmoto, a car show based in Verkhnyaya Pyshma, Sverdlovsk Region, told UrBC.
In the meantime, ZAO Chrysler RUS reports they are going to set up another dealership in Yekaterinburg.
‘The rumors to this extent have been circulating for a long time. At the moment, Verkhnyaya Pyshma-based Asmoto is the brand’s only dealer in the Urals. We’d rather not give any comments on the upcoming opening of another center and the implications of this,’ the Sales Department said.
‘Chrysler cars are of much better quality now than before. This is true, among other things, of the automobile’s technical characteristics. Also, the pricing policy has also changed over the last two years. I must say the prices rose. Prior to the start of the recession, a Chrysler could be bought for 500,000 RUR to 550,000 RUR, but now prices start from 700,000 RUR, with the most expensive makes costing 2.5 million RUR,’ the Sales Department reports.
