Bombardier to co-own Kamyshlov plant
Russian Railways Public Company is planning to sign an agreement with the Canadian concern Bombardier today that will signify the sale of a shareholding in Elteza (United Electro-technical Plants) to the latter, RZhD-Partner, the railway company’s information portal, reports.
‘We intend to sign the agreement with Bombardier regarding the sale of a shareholding in Elteza (the Canadian company won the right to buy this in the course of a tender) and we are going to introduce new technologies to create advanced alarm, lockdown, and security systems on the railroads,’ says President of Russian Railways Vladimir Yakunin.
According to the Russian company, Bombardier means to hand over to them the full range of its microprocessor equipment manufacturing technologies and to help Elteza’s produce enter new sales markets.
United Electro-technical Plants designs and manufactures automation, remote control, and communication systems for the railroads. Elteza comprises eight plants in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Krasnodar Territory, Leningrad, Lipetsk, and Sverdlovsk Regions and in Volgograd. Russian Railways buys 94% of the plants’ produce and is the enterprise’s key customer.
