Pepsico wants to buy shareholding in Wimm Bill Dann
Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service received a petition from the American company PepsiCo regarding the possible acquisition of Wimm Bill Dann Foods, a Russian dairy foods manufacturer, RIA Novosti quotes FAS’s deputy head Andrei Tsyganov as reporting.
The news of the upcoming transaction was announced on December 2, 2010. The company will probably be sold for $5.8bn. PepsiCo intends to buy a 66% shareholding in Wimm Bill Dann for $3.8bn first and will launch an offer for the acquisition of the remaining shares later.
Tsyganov also said the transaction was to be considered by a governmental foreign investment committee at its nearest meeting. According to the official, the date has not been set yet, but the meeting will probably take place before the end of the year.
