Some flights still unprofitable for Ural Airlines JSC

‘A great number of our flights to various destinations are unprofitable, and they always have been. Today, people blame us for the absence of new aircrafts. This is a real problem for the bulk of Russian air-carriers, and, within the next few years, the situation will turn even worse due to the deficient domestic production of aircrafts and high import duties,’ the spokesperson for Ural Airlines PR-department said to UrBC representative.

According to the PR-department of Ural Airlines, the company has successfully abided by its existing aircraft fleet up to now. It was quite enough to provide for Yekaterinburg airport traffic flow; it was also able to meet the EU environmental and other requirements after some engineering changes. Yet the company’s flights to a lot of destinations have been unprofitable. These losses have been compensated at the cost of the more lucrative flights that find a market. Ural Airlines do continue to perform flights to unprofitable destinations in order to maintain the air-traffic network and to supply its clients with the full range of services including transfer traffic. The company also keeps its unprofitable flights to retain the possibility of a gradual increase in the air-traffic flow.
