Aviaprad’s Turkey-bound flight delayed by over 15 hours

Flights keep getting delayed at Yekaterinburg’s Koltsovo Airport. About fifteen flights will arrive in Yekaterinburg late today. For one, four Nordavia-Regional Airlines flights from Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport (733, 734, 743, and 744) are already four hours late. Aeroflot’s Moscow flights are also delayed. Flights 2095 and 2053 from Sheremetyevo have been delayed due to technical problems. This means that flights 2096 and 2054 from Koltsovo (Yekaterinburg) to Sheremetyevo (Moscow) have been delayed as well. Transaero flight 119 Moscow-Yekaterinburg has been delayed by eighteen hours.

‘A short while ago, Sunrise tour travel agency’s fifty-six customers who didn’t have any direct agreement with Ural Airlines were unable to pass the border control at Koltsovo airport of Yekaterinburg and thus missed their chartered flight SVR 3603 due to lack of papers, visas, and passports,’ the carrier’s press officer said to UrBC. Based on its agreement with PGS Charter, Ural Airlines is to operate a chartered flight from Yekaterinburg, Russia, to Goa, India, and back from December 9, 2007 to April 2, 2008. Aviaprad might close down as soon as February 1, 2008 due to financial breakdown, UrBC’s sources report. Rumor has it the carrier owes some 1 billion RUR to a number of creditors, including Koltsovo airport of Yekaterinburg. According to KrasAir, Aviaprad was thinking of selling the company as early as at the end of 2007. ‘Aviaprad’s shareholders suggested that we buy the business, so KrasAir and Aivaprad are now negotiating for the acquisition of the shareholding. We haven’t come up with all the details of the agreement yet, however,’ the spokesperson for KrasAir said to UrBC on December 7,

A Yekaterinburg-Irkutsk flight that was supposed to have been performed by Aviaprad was put off by six hours. The passengers just had to wait in Koltsovo airport without being explained anything. It was unofficially reported that the plane only took off after the passengers had been stuck at the airport for six hours. Koltsovo airport’s press officer has refused to produce any comments so far and suggested asking the spokesperson for Aviaprad. As for the carrier, the company was unwilling to speak to any reporters and gave no explanations - as usual.
