Bauxite ore maker of Severouralsk launches energy saving program

Sevuralboxitruda JSC, bauxite ore maker of Severouralsk, Sverdlovsk Region, has successfully launched an energy saving program. Thus, the company’s electricity bills comprised 241 million RUR in 2002 but 227 million a year later and only 216 million in 2004, which meant the general decrease in electricity expenses from 13.4% to 7.2% within three years. According to the company’s chief power engineering specialist Vasiliy Molodtsov, the savings program still ran in 2005, for instance, in terms of wiser use of compressed air in the mines. Cheremukhovskaya mine compressor was equipped with a frequency changer that will save up to 30% of electricity used. This device is now being installed in 15-15 bis mine. Besides, 14-14 bis, Kalyinskaya and Cheremukhovskaya mines now have underground compressors that will reduce compressed air leaks and save up on electricity costs. Two compressors only use 400 kilowatts, whereas one surface compressor uses 630 kilowatt.

Cheremukhovskaya 2 and 14-14 bis mines now possess upgraded pipe inventory that is going to save up to 15% of electricity.
