On June 6, 2006, Consultant to the President of France Jérôme Monod visited Metallurgical Industrial Complex of Nizhniy Tagil (part of Evraz Group).

As the company’s spokesperson said to UrBC representative, the purpose of the visit was for the guest to get acquainted with the Complex; in the course of the meeting with the company’s management, M Monod asked them some questions on the company’s activity and the social conditions of its employees. He could see that the Complex has developed a stable system of employee-employer cooperation and that there exists a trade union (whose representatives also attended the meeting). M Monod checked out the industrial site, the areas under construction and the new production lines.

‘I believe we should definitely develop the Russian-French cooperation, it will certainly be fruitful. I am truly amazed at the scale of your industrial potential. Your enterprises are developing very intensively, and the existing French metallurgical companies have something to learn,’ said M Monod.
