First Ramstore retail chain outlet to open in Chelyabinsk Region in 2006

Ramenka Ltd. (Ramstore chain of retail stores) is planning on introducing their store in Magnitogorsk, Chelyabinsk Region, in 2006.

‘This particular city and Ural Federal District as a whole are quite attractive in terms of chain development in Russia, so breaking into the Ural market is our top priority at the moment. We have been working on a few projects targeted at a number of Ural cities simultaneously. For instance, we set up the first Ramstore in Ufa in 2006 and hope to open stores in Yekaterinburg, Chelyabinsk, Perm, and Ohrenburg soon,’ the company’s spokesperson said to UrBC representative.

‘Our supermarket in Magnitogorsk covers the area of 3,500 square meters and is located in the renovated shopping center called Alpha Center; the total area of this center reaches 18,000 square meters. We expect to employ some 150 people for the store; this covers both shop assistants and office workers,’ the company’s spokesperson observed.

‘There are a few kinds of Ramstore shops operating in Russia at the moment, namely, supermarkets, hypermarkets, and shopping centers. We’ll naturally try to introduce all kinds of stores as we build up our share of the regional retail market.’
