Magnesite Industrial Complex undergoes pre-certification environmental management and industrial and labour safety management audit

Magnesite Industrial Complex has successfully undergone the pre-certification environmental management and industrial and labour safety management audit. The audit was largely aimed at checking how prepared the company’s management systems are for the international ISО 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001: 1999 certification. The ongoing reducing of the environmentally detrimental effects of the company’s production processes and building up on safety are two top strategic development priorities of the Complex, and these were the aspects the auditors actually looked into.

As the company’s spokesperson said to UrBC representative, the auditors admitted that the Complex ran the dust-ejection reducing system and preventive health programs very well; they also noted that the energy-saving, stock-keeping, and soil reclamation projects appeared to be very efficient.

The company still has some time to follow the auditors’ recommendations, as the certification will only start in the fall.

Very few Russian companies have gone through such certification, although receiving the certificates is bound to yield good results. ‘ISО 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:1999 certificates are a must for a company willing to break into the international market. These certificates actually mean global recognition and should place Magnesite Group among the world’s leading refractory goods mahufacturers,’ says General Director Igor Anikievitch.
