Container terminal of Euro-Asian Transportation and Logistics Center introduced in Sverdlovsk Region

A new container terminal of Euro-Asian Transportation and Logistics Center was introduced in Sverdlovsk Region. This is the first such facility of twenty units owned by the Center, adjacent to Sverdlovsk-Tovarnaya railway station and equipped with Italian hoisting cranes; it can use 2 railways and 17 platforms. A station for empty containers waiting to be loaded with freight will be set up there soon.

The terminal is meant to service the north direction of Sverdlovsk Region Railways (to the towns of Nizhniy Tagil, Serov, Khanty-Mansisysk Autonomous Region); it is also expected to cover 30% of Yekaterinburg’s needs for freight loading and discharging; the city needs three such terminals altogether, each with the annual capacity of 2m containers.

The construction of the Euro-Asian Transportation and Logistics Center terminal fits the framework of the federal project known as Russian Transportation System Upgrading in 2002-2010; the budget of the project comes to 1.3bn RUR, reports the press officer for Governor of Sverdlovsk Region.
