Socio-economic development in January-February 2007 is due to industrial growth in Tyumen and Chelyabinsk Regions, reports Plenipotentiary Representation of Russian Federation President in Ural Federal District
Experts from the Plenipotentiary Representation of Russian Federation President in Ural Federal District looked into the area’s socio-economic development in the two months of 2007 to find out that the better part of these months’ success has been due to impressive industrial growth of Tyumen and Chelyabinsk Regions.
The regions’ manufacturers are doing particularly well, so is the housing business: 447,400 square meters of dwellings have been commissioned since the beginning of the year, which is twice the amount of January-February 2007. 5,040 apartments have been put up altogether compared with only 2,335 a year earlier. In addition, the volume of private houses construction doubled, reaching the point of 251,000 square meters.
In terms of agricultural development, the population of pigs and cattle went up 20.6% (33.1% in Kurgan Region and 26% in Tyumen Region) and .5%, respectively.
The number of milk cows grew by 21% in Chelyabinsk Region and by 15.9% in Kurgan Region; Sverdlovsk Region bought 2.5% more milk from farmers.
As for investments, 29% more investments were made in the district in two months of 2007 compared to a year earlier, whereas the Russian average only comes to 21.2% growth.
