Claims against Alfa-Travel sustained by court
Following a series of hearings, the court fully sustained all the claims laid by consumers against Alfa-Travel, which helped prevent a total 832,600 RUR worth of damage to these consumers. What is more, Alfa-Travel will have to pay 10,000 RUR for moral damage done to the consumers and a 124,800 RUR penalty for refusing to meet the plaintiffs’ claims in an out-of-court settlement, the spokesperson for Yekaterinburg division of Rospotrebnadzor (the consumer rights watchdog) reports.
A Rospotrebnadzor expert who was involved in the case came to the conclusion that Alfa-Travel had actually violated its customers’ rights by failing to provide full information about a service at the time when the service agreement was signed. Also, the company’s contract contained some terms that infringed upon a consumer’s legal rights. Finally, the defendant refused to cancel the agreement before the court hearing started, which was again an infringement of a consumer’s legal right.
In the meantime, Yekaterinburg division of Rospotrebnadzor keeps getting more customer complaints about Alfa-Travel’s policies.
