Private company uses treatment facilities illegally
Following the order of Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yuri Zolotov’s order, the public prosecution authorities of Sverdlovsk Region carried out an inspection of federal property and detected numerous instances of its illegal use, the spokesperson for Ural Federal District’s division of the General Prosecutor’s Office reports.
It was detected that the waste treatment facilities of Zarechniy, Sverdlovsk Region that are managed by Beloyarskaya nuclear power plant had been used by a private company since the year 2007 without any contract whatsoever and without any license allowing the business to handle hazardous wastes.
This has already resulted in a criminal lawsuit, with charges based on Article 171 of the Russian Federation Criminal Code (illegal enterprise); the handling of the suit is being specifically controlled by the authorities. In addition, the authorities insist that the law-enforcement officers in charge of controlling the area be held accountable for the negligence and violations of the law.
